Terry Wayne Allen [1959 - Present]
"America's Heart Throb"
One of the most popular professional wrestlers during the 1980s, Terry Allen started wrestling in the mid-1970s for Championship Wrestling from Florida and later moved to Mid-South Wrestling. In the early 1980s, Allen adopted the persona of Magnum T.A., "America's Heart Throb," based on his resemblance to Tom Selleck's popular TV character, Magnum, P.I. In 1984, Magnum T.A. defeated Mr. Wrestling II to capture the Mid-South North American Heavyweight Championship and also teamed up with Dusty Rhodes to form "America's Team." Magnum T.A. engaged in many feuds with the likes of Wahoo McDaniel, Ole Anderson, Ric Flair, Tully Blanchard, Nikita Koloff and "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin, among others.
Tragically, Magnum T.A.'s professional wrestling career was cut short on October 14, 1986, when he lost control of his Porsche and crashed it into a telephone pole. The accident left him partially paralyzed. Magnum later became a commentator and manager for both Koloff and Rhodes. In 1998, Magnum managed Barry Windham and Blanchard to a memorable victory over The Border Patrol for the NWA World Tag Team Championship.
I remember seeing almost all of Magnum's matches. I saw him wrestle in Baltimore. Have tried to keep up to date on him, but wasn't able to find much. I really enjoyed watching and listening to the interview. If there is an address to send letters to him, I would greatly appreciate having it. Also, my daughter grew up with the NWA, AWA and World Championship Wrestling. The matches between Magnum and Nikita were awesome. There are no wrestlers today who could even compare to Magnum and that era of wrestling.
Those were the Days !! Magnum TA ...One HeLL of a Wrestler Nobody does the " BeLLy to BeLLy Suplex " any " BETTER " than him !
That "I Quit" match at Starrcade against Tully Blanchard was very brutal (especially the ending). Amazing match. Usually those "I Quit" matches are awful, but that's one of the very few truly great ones. It's probably on YouTube, but I know it's also on WWE's DVD "Bloodbath: The Greatest Cage Matches" (if you can find it - not sure if WWE has it in stock anymore since it's an older title).
HE IS ACTUALLY MARRIED TO TULLY BLANCHARD'S EX WIFE COURTNEY SHATTUCK & THEY HAVE 2 SMALL CHILDREN
He owns Magnum Cellular Communications in Charlotte.
I REMEMBER SEEING TA WRESTLE IN PERSON. IN ATL. AND AT THE COBB CIVIC CENTER. AT THE TIME HE ONE OF THE FASTED WIN RECORD TO DATE WITH HIS BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX.
If you read another site they say he died already.
I agree with Marianne; why not do a "where are they now?"
