Also known as "Captain Redneck," "Dirty Dick" and "The Man of the Hour," Dick Murdoch was the son of Texas wrestler, Frankie Hill Murdoch, who captured the NWA Southwest Junior Heavyweight Championship three times during his career. Initially wrestling in the mid-60s as "Ron Carson," Murdoch quickly started wrestling under his real name and formed a legendary tag team with Dusty Rhodes called "The Texas Outlaws." He later enjoyed much solo success wrestling for Championship Wrestling from Florida, National Wrestling Alliance and Mid-South Wrestling. In the early 1980s, Murdoch (as "Captain Redneck") teamed up with Junkyard Dog and feuded with the Fabulous Freebirds. In 1984, Murdoch headed to the World Wrestling Federation and won World Tag Team Titles with his partner, Adrian Adonis. He later engaged in a memorable feud with Ric Flair. Murdoch died of a heart attack in 1996 at the age of 49.

Tricky Dicky Murdoch, one of the finest men, a very good wrestler, I have talked with Murdoch several times at the matches, and each time, he was the same man, never changed, I really liked Dick Murdoch, and he is truely missed!

Dick was a very dear friend of mine. We both spent most of our lives in the Amarillo, TX area. We miss you Dick!

greatest match I ever saw. Melbourne 1969 loser leaves town tagteam match;Dick Murdoch and Lars Anderson V Skull Murphy and Brute Bernard. 2 out of 3 falls (remember that?) ahhhh...that was wrestling. As kids we used to wait outside the arena for the wretlers to get out their cabs. I can still see Dick M loudly saying "got $10 more than you Greek"...hilarious at the time.

The best move Dick Murdoch ever had was the flying head scissors applied to "Jumpin'" Jim Brunzell!! Best Move Ever!

I recall Dirty Dick from the NWA, back when the Crocketts owned and ran thw Alliance. The sadest thing was I recall him asking Mr. Crockett for a chance at the NWA World Champinonship Title, once chance is all Murdoch want to wear the Championship belt. Dick had done all that was ask, he a wide fan base than the Crocketts understood. This was a time before the internet, telephones all had cords that limited range and mobility. Been going to tell this for years thaks to moderan tecnology. I can, God Bless, the Loved one of Dirty Dick Murdoch, Pro Wrestler, Icon, Hero, and a mighty big man in out the ring.

I first experienced Captain Redneck in the Mid-South territory as a hero- teaming with the Junkyard Dog against the Samoans. He was great, with a long face run- then an awesome heel-turn on his protege Ted Dibiase. Great stuff.

During the days of Mid-South Wrestling, Dick Murdoch was a Legend. His Matches against Killer Karl Kox were always action filled full of blood and guts. Hardcore before it was hardcore
