With his bald head, hairy body, green tongue and penchant for gnawing on turnbuckles, George "The Animal" Steele was a truly maniacal figure in the ring. After receiving a bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University and a master's degree from Central Michigan University, Steele became a high school teacher and amateur wrestling coach before turning to professional wrestling. He went on to enjoy an illustrious wrestling career that ran from 1967 to 1989 with occasional ring appearances well into the 2000s. Steele's finishing move was known as the "Flying Hammerlock." In the mid-80s, Steele engaged in a memorable feud with "Macho Man" Randy Savage after developing a serious crush on Miss Elizabeth. Steele has also appeared in several films, most notably as "Tor Johnson" in Ed Wood . He currently lives in Cocoa Beach, Florida, with his wife, Pat.
