"Hillbilly Jim" Video

Jim Morris made his professional wrestling debut in 1975 in Memphis and later started wrestling under the ring name "Harley Davidson." In 1984, 6'7", 320-pound Hillbilly Jim appeared in the WWF as an overall-clad wrestling fan from Mud Lick, Kentucky, who was trained by Hulk Hogan. His theme song was "Don't Go Messin' With a Country Boy." After he suffered a knee injury in 1985, Hillbilly Jim introduced his "kinfolk," Uncle Elmer and Cousin Luke, to the WWF. Hillbilly Jim also enjoyed a memorable appearance in WrestleMania III when he teamed up with Little Beaver and The Haiti Kid in a mixed tag team match to defeat King Kong Bundy, Little Tokyo and Lord Littlebrook. Today, Hillbilly Jim hosts the weekly "Hillbilly Jim's Moonshine Matinee" program on Sirius Satellite Radio's Outlaw Country channel 63.

While appreciating wrestling for what it was, entertainment, I gotta say that HJ had to be one of the strongest wrestlers ever. There are certain things you just cannot fake, and I have seen some matches where HJ was lifting some HUGE guys over his head. I think it was the Big John Studd challenge, where he was gonna pay the first wrestler to lift him over their head, and HJ almost had him, but Studd wriggled out of it. That would be a good clip to add if I am remembering it right.

Cousin Luke (Lanny Kean) died a number of years ago (sorry I don't have the date).

To anonymous: Lanny Kean was actually Cousin Junior - sorry I don't remember who Cousin Luke was.

Remember when cousin Luke was in the WCCW as the Mongol.

"Cousin Luke" was actually Gene Petit, who worked for many promotions from the '70s through the '80s.

Hillbilly Jim is one of the kindest people I ever met. He always took the time to be attentive to his fans no matter where he was, or who they were. I remember this crazy mother mother had her son at the airport at 5:00 in the morning just to see the wrestlers and Hillbilly Jim took the time to buy the child breakfast. Remember that Jim? Pretty in Pink
